EPEAT addresses the sustainability impacts of electronic products. An EPEAT registered product must meet required criteria and can meet optional criteria. The criteria depend on the type of product and can include energy efficiency, reduction of fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-Gases), and end of life management. Products meeting 50% - 75% optional criteria are “Silver” and those meeting more than 75% are “Gold”.

TCO Certified identifies IT products with lower environmental and climate impact, safer chemicals, and circular design which reduces e-waste. Criteria for social responsibility are also included to reduce the risk of human rights violations, child labor, and health and safety issues for workers in the supply chain. To ensure that all criteria are being met, independent verification organizations spend more than 20,000 hours on product testing and supply chain assessments each year. The organization behind TCO Certified is TCO Development.
