Extra Long Shower Curtain Buying Guide
Extra long shower curtains are essential if you have a bathtub or shower that is taller than the average length. They come in various lengths and styles, so it's crucial to consider a few factors before making the purchase.
Factors to Consider Before Buying an Extra Long Shower Curtain
Length
The first thing to consider is the length of your shower curtain. The standard length is 72 inches, but extra long curtains can range from 84 to 96 inches. Measure the height from the floor to the top of your shower or bathtub, and add several inches to ensure proper coverage. It's also essential to determine where the curtain rod will be placed to ensure the design you choose will fit and be in the right position.
Material
The material of your shower curtain can impact the durability, ease of cleaning, and style. Here are some popular materials:
- Polyester: These curtains are affordable, come in various designs, and are easy to clean. However, they are not as durable as other materials and may wrinkle easily.
- PEVA: Shower curtains made from polyethylene vinyl acetate (PEVA) are eco-friendly and free of harmful chemicals. They are also water-resistant, but not as durable as some other materials.
- Canvas: These curtains are durable and can provide a spa-like feel to your bathroom, but they can be challenging to clean and may need to be replaced more often.
- Cotton: Cotton shower curtains are soft, absorbent, and come in various colors and patterns. However, they can take longer to dry, and if not properly maintained, can mold or mildew.
Style
Extra-long shower curtains come in various designs, from simple and elegant to whimsical and colorful. Your style choice can add personality to your bathroom and complement your existing decor. Here are some popular styles:
- Solid Colors: For a simple and elegant look, solid colors such as white, beige, or gray are popular choices. They can also be matched to your towels or bath mat to create a cohesive look.
- Patterns: Patterns such as stripes, geometric shapes, or floral designs can add a pop of color and personality to your bathroom.
- Textured: Shower curtains with a textured surface can add depth and dimension to your bathroom design. Ruffled, quilted, or waffle-weave styles are popular choices.
- Themed: If you have a particular theme in your bathroom, such as a beach or tropical theme, a corresponding shower curtain can complete the look.
Where to Buy Extra Long Shower Curtains?
Extra-long shower curtains can be found in most home goods stores and online retailers. Here are some popular places to shop:
- Bed Bath and Beyond: This store has a large selection of extra-long shower curtains in various materials, styles, and designs. They also offer free shipping on orders over $39 and accept returns within 180 days.
- Amazon: Amazon has a vast selection of extra-long shower curtains from various brands and sellers. You can read customer reviews, compare prices, and have them delivered to your door. They also offer free shipping on orders over $25.
- Wayfair: Wayfair has a large selection of shower curtains, including extra-long options. They offer free shipping on orders over $35 and have a 30-day return policy.
- Target: Target has a selection of extra-long shower curtains in-store and online. They offer free shipping on orders over $35 and have a generous return policy.
Tips for Maintaining Extra Long Shower Curtains
To ensure your extra-long shower curtain stays in optimal condition, here are some tips to follow:
- Wash Regularly: Shower curtains can develop mold, mildew, and soap scum. Wash your curtain regularly to prevent it from accumulating. Most shower curtains can be machine washed, but check the care instructions first.
- Use a Liner: Shower curtain liners provide an extra layer of protection against water and bacteria. They are affordable and easy to replace.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Some cleaning products can damage the material of your shower curtain. Use a mild detergent and avoid bleach.
- Dry Properly: Allow your shower curtain to dry properly after each use. Make sure there is proper ventilation in your bathroom to prevent mold or mildew from developing.
- Replace When Necessary: If your shower curtain is torn, stained, or has an odor that cannot be eliminated, it's time to replace it. Extra long shower curtains are affordable, and replacing them can refresh the look of your bathroom.
Conclusion
Extra long shower curtains can improve the functionality and style of your bathroom. Before buying, consider the length, material, and style. Shopping in stores or online can provide you with various options that match your preferences, and proper care and maintenance can keep your shower curtain in optimal condition. By following this buying guide, you can choose the perfect extra-long shower curtain for your bathroom and make your showering experience more comfortable and enjoyable.
