Introduction
Gummy bears are one of the most beloved candies in the world. They are little, chewy, and come in a variety of flavors, shapes and colors. But not all gummy bears are created equal. In this guide, we'll go over some important things to consider when buying gummy bears, including flavors, brands, size, and more.
Flavors
When you think of gummy bears, you probably think of the classic flavors: cherry, strawberry, lemon, orange, and raspberry. But did you know that gummy bears come in other flavors too? Some of the most popular alternatives include:
- Green apple
- Pineapple
- Mango
- Watermelon
- Blue raspberry
If you're feeling adventurous, you can also find gummy bears in more unique flavors like sour cherry, pink grapefruit, and even wine and beer flavored.
Brands
There are many brands of gummy bears on the market, but some stand out more than others. Here are a few of the most popular brands:
| Brand | Key Features |
|---|---|
| Haribo | The original gummy bear, with a slightly firmer texture than most others on the market. |
| Trolli | Known for making sour gummy bears and other unique flavors like tropical punch and kiwi-strawberry. They also have a softer texture than Haribo gummy bears. |
| Albanese | Offers a wide variety of flavors and textures, with a focus on all-natural ingredients and gluten-free options. |
| Black Forest | Known for their organic gummy bears and other fruit snacks, with no artificial colors or flavors. |
While these are some of the most popular brands, there are many other options as well. Some grocery stores even have their own store-brand gummy bears that can be just as tasty (and more affordable) than the big name brands.
Size
Gummy bears come in a variety of sizes, from teeny tiny to giant-sized. Here are some common sizes:
- Mini gummy bears: about the size of a pencil eraser
- Regular gummy bears: roughly the size of a penny
- Large gummy bears: about the size of a quarter
- Giant gummy bears: can be as big as a small child's head
The size of the gummy bears you choose will depend on your personal preference. Some people like to pop mini gummy bears one by one, while others prefer larger gummy bears for a more satisfying chew. Giant gummy bears are a fun novelty item, but can be difficult to eat (and can also be quite expensive).
Texture
Gummy bears can vary in texture from firm to soft and chewy. Some people prefer a firmer texture, like the original Haribo gummy bears, while others prefer a softer texture like Trolli gummy bears. Albanese gummy bears are known for having a soft, chewy texture with a melt-in-your-mouth feel. Black Forest gummy bears also have a soft texture, but with a more substantial chew.
If you're not sure what texture you prefer, try a few different brands and see which one you like best.
Color
The color of the gummy bears you choose can also affect your overall enjoyment. Some people prefer bright, vibrant colors while others like more muted tones. Some gummy bears come in single colors (like red or green) while others are multi-colored (like the classic rainbow gummy bears).
Keep in mind that the color of the gummy bears doesn't necessarily correspond to the flavor. For example, green gummy bears might be apple-flavored, but they could also be lime or watermelon.
