Walkers
Henry Walker, a local butcher, began selling hand-sliced potato chips to Leicester residents in 1948. Walkers became a pioneer in the area of flavored crisps, producing novel combinations inspired by Britain's favorite dishes after several million spuds. From Land's Point to the Scottish Highlands, their valuable product originates from 80 distinct British farms. They collect the best potatoes from farms around the UK, and when they arrive at their plant, they have flown out of the truck to maintain them in tip-top shape. They conduct tastings six times a day to achieve potato perfection.

Butter Cookies Buying Guide
Butter cookies are a delicious treat that everyone loves. Whether you like them soft or crunchy, plain or filled with chocolate, there is something for everyone. But with so many options available, it can be overwhelming to choose the best ones. Here is a butter cookies buying guide to help you make the right choice.
Types of Butter Cookies
The first thing to consider is what type of butter cookies you want. Here are some of the most popular types:
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Shortbread | A classic buttery cookie that is made with flour, sugar, and butter. It is typically crumbly and melts in your mouth. |
| Sablé | A French cookie that is similar to shortbread but with a slightly sandy texture. It is made with more butter and less sugar than shortbread. |
| Linzer | A butter cookie that is sandwiched together with jam and usually has a hole in the center to show the filling. |
| Thumbprint | A butter cookie that is rolled in nuts and has a jam-filled indentation in the center. |
| Chocolate Chip | A butter cookie that is studded with chocolate chips or chunks. |
| Shortcake | A buttery, scone-like cookie that is typically served with whipped cream and strawberries. |
Ingredients
The ingredients used in butter cookies can greatly affect their taste and quality. Here are some ingredients to look out for when buying butter cookies:
Butter
Butter is the most important ingredient in butter cookies, and it is what gives them their rich, buttery flavor. Look for cookies that are made with real butter rather than margarine or shortening.
Flour
The type of flour used in butter cookies can affect their texture. All-purpose flour is the most common flour used, but some cookies may use pastry flour for a lighter texture or whole wheat flour for a nuttier flavor.
Sugar
Granulated sugar is the most common type of sugar used in butter cookies. However, some recipes may use powdered sugar, which will result in a more tender cookie.
Eggs
Eggs are used to bind the dough together and add moisture. Some recipes may only use egg yolks for a richer cookie, while others may use whole eggs.
Vanilla Extract
Vanilla extract is often added to butter cookies for flavor. Look for cookies that use real vanilla extract rather than artificial flavoring.
Texture
The texture of butter cookies can vary greatly depending on the recipe. Some cookies may be soft and chewy, while others may be crisp and crumbly. Consider what texture you prefer when choosing butter cookies to purchase.
Packaging
The packaging of butter cookies can affect their freshness and flavor. Here are some tips for choosing quality packaging:
Airtight
Butter cookies should be packaged in an airtight container to keep them fresh and prevent them from becoming stale.
Opaque
Light can affect the flavor of butter cookies, so look for packaging that is opaque to prevent light from getting in.
Re-Sealable
If you don't plan on eating all the cookies at once, look for packaging that is re-sealable so you can keep the remaining cookies fresh.
Brand
The brand of butter cookies can be an important factor to consider. Some brands may have a better reputation for quality and taste than others. Here are some popular butter cookie brands:
Walkers
Walkers Shortbread is a Scottish brand that is famous for its high-quality, traditional shortbread cookies. They are made with pure butter and have a melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Pirouline
Pirouline is a brand that specializes in rolled wafer cookies, including butter cookies. Their cookies are crispy and come in a variety of flavors, including chocolate hazelnut and caramel.
Pepperidge Farm
Pepperidge Farm is a popular American brand that makes a variety of cookies, including their signature Milano cookies. Their butter cookies are soft and chewy, with a rich buttery flavor.
Tate's Bake Shop
Tate's Bake Shop is a gourmet cookie brand that has won several awards for their baked goods. Their butter cookies are crispy and have a delicate buttery flavor.
Price
The price of butter cookies can vary depending on the brand, size, and packaging. In general, higher-quality cookies will be more expensive. Consider how much you are willing to spend when choosing butter cookies to purchase.
Conclusion
Choosing the best butter cookies can be a daunting task, but with this buying guide, you should be able to make an informed decision. Consider what type of cookie you prefer, the ingredients used, the texture, the packaging, the brand, and the price before making your purchase.
